Professors Sami Franssila and Kyösti Kontturi, Visiting Professor Roman Nowak, Teacher-Researcher Lasse Murtomäki and Academy Research Fellow Maria Sammalkorpi have received research funding of a significant amount from the Academy of Finland in the Programmable Material Research Programme application process.

A consortium headed by Professor Sami Franssila has chosen Programmable Wetting as its research topic. The consortium’s other members are Academy Research Fellow Robin Ras (from the Aalto University School of Science) and FiDiPro Klas Hjort (VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland).

Professor Kyösti Kontturi’s topic of research is Programmable Polyelectrolyte Nanocontainers for Cellular Drug Delivery. Research will be carried out in cooperation with the University of Helsinki's Centre for Drug Research (Professor Arto Urtti).

Teacher-Researcher Lasse Murtomäki and Academy Research Fellow Maria Sammalkorpi are researching Light Triggered Nanoparticles. This research will be carried out in cooperation with the University of Helsinki.

Visiting Professor Roman Nowak’s topic of research is Programmable Perovskites. A consortium formed by Aalto University and the University of Helsinki (Professor Jyrki Räisänen) works in international cooperation with Japan’s Nagoya University (Professor W. Sakamoto) as well as Hysitron Central Laboratories, Hysitron Inc., Minneapolis, USA (Dr. T. Wyrobek).
